Surgical Information

Office Surgery – Minor surgical procedures are performed in the office under local anesthesia and include:

  • microscopic examination and cleaning of the ear
  • insertion of ventilation tubes for draining middle ear fluid
  • endoscopic evaluations of nose, sinuses, throat and vocal cords
  • biopsies of lesions in the head and neck area

Hospital Surgery – Dr. Kohan has “block” scheduled surgical time on Thursdays and Fridays. Most procedures are ambulatory thus not requiring overnight hospitalization. The office manager provides detailed logistic instructions for preoperative procedures.
Major surgery is performed at New York University – Tisch Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital/MEETH, and NYEE.
