Office Policies and Insurance

Our practice is committed to delivering comprehensive, patient-centered evaluation and treatment in all aspects of ENT. Our patients, spanning all age groups from newborn to geriatric, will be examined with the utmost attention to detail and treated with compassion and concern.

We know your time is valuable and we do our best to not keep anyone waiting. However, occasionally patients may be added to the schedule as emergencies and despite our efforts, we may run behind schedule. If our commitment to our patients does cause us to run behind schedule, please be assured that when your appointment comes, you will also be treated as an individual and given Dr. Kohan’s undivided attention.

Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Appointment Policy
Dr. Kohan’s office staff will do their best to provide you with a regular office visit within 72 hours. Emergency visits are available the same day.

Appointment Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to keep an appointment, kindly provide us with at least 48 hours notice. This courtesy will allow us to provide an appointment to another patient.

Medical and Surgical Emergencies
For medical and surgical emergencies after hours and on weekends, please call our office at
212-472-1300. Your call will be automatically connected to our answering service. The operator will take a detailed message and either Dr. Kohan or a covering physician will call you back as soon as possible. Please do not call the answering service for office appointments or prescription refills.

Languages Spoken
Dr. Kohan speaks English, Spanish, French, and Romanian. In addition, members of Dr. Kohan’s office staff speak Chinese and Portuguese.

Physician Referrals: We keep in close contact with your referring physician and will update him/her regularly about your diagnosis, treatment plan, and progress throughout treatment.

Patient Referrals: We do accept patient referrals and would be glad to care for your friends and family members should they need our specialized care. Your referral is the highest compliment we can receive.

Fees and Insurance
If you have medical insurance, we will gladly file a claim with your insurance carrier for surgical procedures or for office visits. If we do not participate with your insurance carrier, we will work with you to accommodate your needs. Both offices accept most major insurance carriers.

Surgical fees will be discussed with you individually so that you can plan accordingly for payment. Deferred billing plans can be arranged in cases of financial hardship. Please discuss this with our staff before scheduling surgery.

On the day of your appointment, please provide the receptionist with the appropriate documentation – insurance card, referral slips, and photo identification. Payment is expected at the time of your visit by credit card, cash, or check.
